A group called Guerrilla Cartography has initiated a Kickstarter campaign for their latest project, Water: An Atlas. The group's first project was Food: An Atlas. These projects solicit maps on the given subject, and then open the maps up to peer and public review. Now the maps are edited and compiled, and the project is ready to be completed, but the funds need to be raised for printing.
From the official press release:
A collection of more than 80 maps, Water: An Atlas is a crowdsourced atlas that portrays water trends, usage issues and global events all created by volunteer cartographers from around the world...
Now in its final layout phase, Water: An Atlas brings together maps and data visualizations of physical, political and even imaginative water phenomena. Topics featured in the atlas include North Korean drought and flooding patterns, the Dakota Access Pipeline, disappearing lakes in Bangalore, and potential water savings in California through the use of aquaponic systems.
It also looks it's not too late to submit a map for consideration. This is from the kickstarter page:
...We invite you to join the community, by either funding the project and/or submitting a map. We will put you on our collaborators and backers map, which will be published in the atlas!
