Using shapefiles as a reference for accuracy assessment in ecognition

I classified my project and got an esri shapefile with points in it. Those points are hand made samples with the right class assigned to them. Now I need to use those samples to check my own classification via AA - but how do I use this shape file? Loaded it as a thematic layer but I can not interact with it in the AA section of eCognition.
