QGIS Python Script - Routing along Waypoints [closed]

I'd like to revisit this points2path issue that was brought up with version 2.6

I am using version 2.8-Wien and I'm trying to use the same script to route a path through a series of points along a US Highways road network.

I've already gone ahead and altered the line in the script to read as follows: 'from processing.tools.vector import VectorWriter'.

The point data I'm using is: stop Location Address Day RunID Long Lat 1 Hwy 150 2325 John Hawkins Pkwy Birmingham AL 35244 Monday 1 -86.8643094 33.3524165 2 McCalla 5036 Bond Blvd Bessemer AL 35022 Monday 1 -86.9946811 33.3328417 3 TE Bessemer 1701 N 19th St Bessemer, AL 35020 Monday 1 -86.971517 33.413208 4 Bessemer 922 9th Ave. Bessemer, AL 35020 Monday 1 -86.9702353 33.3950453 5 Dolomite 600 Allison Bonnett Dr. Dolomite, AL 35601 Monday 1 -86.9570957 33.4578106 6 Fairfield 7157 Aaron Aronov Dr Fairfield AL 35061 Monday 1 -86.9159134 33.4673079 7 3rd Ave 737 3rd Ave W Birmingham, AL 35204 Monday 1 -86.848839 33.505079 8 Downtown 2300 8th Ave South Birmingham, AL 35233 Monday 1 -86.7949526 33.506701 9 TE Southside 3200 6th Ave S Birmingham AL 35222 Monday 1 -86.7840108 33.515255 10 Homewood 1717 27th Ct. South Homewood AL 35209 Monday 1 -86.7937931 33.4816848

and the US Highways shapefile can be found here: http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/planning/processes/tools/nhpn/

When I run the script QGIS just crashes.

Any help would be appreciated.

I used Anita Graser's script point_layer_to_route.py which worked like a charm until I updated to 2.6. With QGIS 2.6 I always get objects without any features. Can anybody tell me if he/she had the same issues?
