I'm looking to start using QGIS for production of basemaps, co-ordinate points (to set out 30x30 or 20x20 grids) and to then overlay the geophysical results (usually raster images) on top of the basemap and grid layout. Currently my company has been using ArcMap (part of ArcGIS) but we only have one license for that and so will be moving onto freeware if suitable.
Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for this?
