There may not be an answer to this as I have yet to find anything from my searches but here goes.
I have an excel file which is continually updated my multiple users. Within the excel file each row has lat and long coordinates and a number of associated attributes relating to the corodinates.
What I want to do is find a way of linking the excelfile to a .shp file that continually updates whenever one of the users adds an entry to the excel file i.e. adds a new point. The other users are not GIS literate and so getting them to directly update a .shp file is not an option. I also know that I can directly keep adding the updated .csv files into QGIS and save as shapefiles but I don't want to have to keep doing this whenever a user adds an entry, ideally I want the process to be automatic.
I am using QGIS 2.6 (company won't let us update) for this.
