The Role
GIS Specilist responsible for the creation of road network of U.A.E and GCC.
Responsible for the creation and maintenance of KML and SHP files of areas and points of interests.
Responsible for co-ordination with IT department for integration of road network with real time GPS vehicle tracking application
Responsible for the data collection for UAE
Responsible for the creation of navigable road network data, routing and attribution for Dubai Roads and emirates roads.
Requirements
• Associate degree or equivalent course work at a technical or vocational school in geographic information systems, geography, planning, civil engineering, computer science or a related field, or three years of experience working with GIS systems.
• Knowledge of GIS software Manifold Systems.
• Knowledge of ESRI software such as ArcGIS (Arcmap, ArcCatalog, Toolbox, ArcIMS).
• Thorough knowledge of ESRI Technologies (ArcGIS/ArcObjects, ArcSDE, ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server)
• Knowledge KML will be an asset
• Experience working with geographic data sets
• Working knowledge of Open Source standards and technology including PostGresSQL/PostGIS, GML,Mapserver
• Extensive knowledge in digitization of road network and attribution
• Knowledge of ESRI extensions and experience with geo databases.
• Knowledge of digitizing and data manipulation procedures for geographic information systems.
• Knowledge of coordinate systems, image/raster rectification and ability to work with and reproject multiple data formats.
• Ability to troubleshoot and create innovative solutions to problems in ArcGIS or Manifold Systems.
• Understanding of surveying terminology and data collection processes.
• Ability to use graphic instructions such as engineering drawings, layouts or other visual aids and to read and use zoning maps, quarter-section maps, plat maps, land use maps, single line maps and aerial maps.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions in the English language.
• Ability to produce well-written technical report portions discussing data collection and its GIS-based management.
