error while opening tif file in erdas

• I have processed and created .tif file in R.
• while opening that .tif in Arcgis it opend properly, while opening in Erdas it throws unsupported file
• it opened in arcgis without any warning and inquiry box in erdas has shown infinate like ######### in pixel field why?
