1. Purpose
1.1 The Academic Registrar occupies a central and key role with respect to the success of the Teacher Education Professional Programme (TEPD) in Jordan and other taught programmes offered by QRTA.
1.2 The Academic Registrar is responsible for:
(i) Implementation and continual enhancement of academic and professional quality assurance policies and procedures of QRTA’s taught provision
(iii) Student and wellbeing services to support pre-service and in-service teachers and participants on other programmes throughout their academic and professional studies at QRTA.
2. Duties and responsibilities
2.1 Academic policy and governance
2.1.1 To ensure that appropriate and internationally benchmarked academic and professional standards are set and maintained as well as achieved at all times, in the case of the TEPD(s) including the Teachers’ Standards, and to ensure the consistent application of the Grade Criteria for assessed work agreed by QRTA.
2.1.2 Implement, manage, review and enhance the QRTA’s regulatory framework, including the Assessment Regulations for the TEPD(s).
2.1.3 Ensure implementation of policies and procedures in the QRTA Quality Manual, and review and enhance these on an annual basis to ensure fitness for purpose.
2.1.4 Develop and maintain quality assurance and enhancement arrangements for new QRTA programmes as appropriate.
2.1.5 To ensure the TEPD(s) and other programmes have appropriate academic and management governance, including, in the case of the TEPD(s), Academic Board(s), Programme Board(s), Professional Practice Board(s), Board of Examiners and TEPD Management Committee.
2.1.6 To ensure that academic and management governance operates effectively through an annual calendar of meetings, agendas and minutes committee(s) and board meetings.
2.1.7 To coordinate and produce an annual quality monitoring report using an agreed template for the TEPD(s) and, as appropriate for other programmes where this is a requirement, for consideration by Academic Board and Management Committee

2.2 Student services
2.2.1 Lead the development, management and oversight of QRTA’s student record system, and the integration of, including importing and exporting data between systems.
2.2.2 To use the student record system to provide data for summary reports for consideration by QRTA committees/boards and management for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
2.2.3 To ensure the provision of student support and student well-being is adequate and needs-based, appropriately advertised to students, effective, available to all eligible students and provides pastoral support in a timely manner.
2.2.4 To use quantitative and qualitative feedback from Student Teachers and participants to produce summary reports with action plans for the enhancement of the student experience on the TEPD(s) and other programmes in collaboration with academic staff.
2.2.5 To oversee policies and procedures concerned with student/participant complaints, academic appeals, attendance requirements and student/participant professional behaviour.
2.2.6 To ensure that arrangements for student/participant assessment, including academic and professional (on the TEPD(s) this includes Teachers’ Standards) operate in a valid, reliable and consistent manner for all students/participants.
2.2.7 To lead the recruitment and admissions processes, in collaboration with academics and provide annual reports using quantitative and qualitative data and action plans for enhancement of processes and procedures as appropriate.
2.3 Other duties and responsibilities
2.3.1 To represent QRTA and its programmes externally, as required.
2.3.2 To work with all academic and professional staff at QRTA.
2.3.3 To liaise with staff at the Queen Rania Foundation (QRF), as appropriate and required.
2.3.3 To undertake other duties and responsibilities, as required and commensurate with the level of the post.
