The GIS Center will hold an in the Antiquities Museum of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, Egypt, from the 22nd to the 27th of September 2012. The official opening will take place in the Antiquities Museum of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina with an inauguration speech by Mr. Magdy El-Ghandour, General Director of the Documentation Center of the Ministry of State for Antiquities at 11 a.m. This will be followed by brief talks by the GIS Center staff and other experts presenting their work. e
The exhibition is a display of the use of the geographic information system (GIS) application in the safeguarding of archaeological sites and historical monuments. It comprises panels showing maps of archaeological sites in a number of the Egyptian governorates, as well as descriptions of heritage protection projects undertaken by the GIS Center in collaboration with their stakeholders. In addition, a documentary filmed by the GIS Center photographer during the team’s visit to the archaeological sites will be shown.
The exhibition will be open to the public every day from 9 Am to 5 Pm
