CH2M HILL GIS Lead - Doha, Qatar
Program Description:
Qatar will be hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cupâ„¢ Football, becoming the first Middle East nation in history to stage this event. The associated construction programme will be part of a major country regeneration programme including the development of required infrastructure and non competitive venues.
CH2M Hill is the Programme Management Contractor (PMC) responsible for the management of competition precincts, training venues, associated common domain precincts, operations, post games works, as well as the coordination of the regeneration programme integration works, acting on behalf of the client.
As part of the Programme Management team CH2M Hill is looking to recruit a GIS Lead to manage the Geographical Information support for the programme.
Scope:
The GIS Lead is responsible for installing and configuring the GIS tools specific for the 2022 Fifa World Cupâ„¢. These tools comprise of ESRI ArcGIS and Google Earth. The role will also focus on the establishment of a GIS Strategy for the programme and developing contacts with the local stakeholders.
The job holder will utilise GIS techniques to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location, extracts data from GIS software and uses varying analysis methods to arrive at results and recommends appropriate reactionary strategies in response to GIS analysis and established data. The job holder will provides maps and data sets to clients to supplement analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Installation and configuration of GIS Tools
Development of the GIS Strategy for the programme
Assessment of GIS and CAD data received from stakeholders
Working with stakeholders to obtain data exchange policies
Management of an team of analysts (post July 2012)
Creation of Maps and Simulations
Configuration of GIS Database (initially SQL DB)
Testing of all GIS tools
Utilise GIS techniques to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location
Extract data from GIS software and uses varying analysis methods to arrive at results.
Recommend appropriate reactionary strategies in response to GIS analysis.
Provide maps and data sets to clients to supplement analysis.
Work in collaborative spirit with the Planning & Scheduling department in producing the Programme Master Schedule and specific integrated schedules exercises
Supports the reporting process with the production of bespoke outputs for internal and external publications
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
B.S. Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent
Extensive knowledge in installing and configuring ESRI applications (Desktop and Web)
Experience of Google Earth Pro
Experience in configuring SQL and or Oracle Databases for use within GIS
Experience working as a tools lead in a programme office
Affinity with reading and analysis of activity schedules
Must have construction background or knowledge of its IM demands
Experience on design and construction of capital improvement programmes
Experience working on large-scale programmes
Experience working within the Middle East
