AequilibraE - A transportation modeling toolbox for QGIS

Commercial software for transportation modeling cost is in the range of US$10,000 to US$30,000+, and currently no successful open source alternative exist.
AequilibraE is the first QGIS add-on for transportation modeling/planning and it aims to be a fully fledged open source software for transportation modeling. It builds upon the success of QGIS and the need of transportation modelers to have a modeling tool with an excellent GIS interface.
Most of the code is written in Python, and the most computationally intensive algorithms are written in Python. All the procedure interfaces are fully threaded and the algorithms are implemented in a way that allows them to be used from the menu or from a future python library straight from a Python script and using QGIS geoprocessing API.
In this session I will present the current stage of development of the software, some of its coolest features and the test cases used for its development.

Topological analysis of GIS networks to generate networks even if no nodes are provided
Trip distribution
Calibration and application of gravity models and Iterative Proportional Fitting
Network Skimming
Computation of shortest path/time matrices and unlimited corresponding skims
Traffic Assignment
All or nothing assignment, and equilibrium and route choice are under-development
