Why NASA world view update WW coverage during whole day

There is the famous NASA World View site based on EOSDIS.

I relatively new to this and I wonder why:

1. Why it takes whole day to get World Wide coverage? For example - at 13:00 PM @ Europe and ain't coverage for Europe.
2. Why & what are those black strips on the existing coverage?
