I have to choose which format should be used for a project which entails scanning 2000 (mostly coloured) building plans in scale 1:1000. I am tending towards standard TIFF but due to the fact that the scans are going to be georeferenced I am also considering GeoTiff to avoid getting the tfw world file with each raster file. Also I have to consider which compression form is better? LZW, Deflate etc are all lossless, and therefore do not loose any pixel information, but does this in turn create problems else where?
Any remarks would be most helpful, regarding disadvantages of Tiff or GeoTiff, Advantages of JPG, or other factors which I haven´t considered, e.g Software compatibility or file space.
