I realize that this might not have a very straightforward answer. But there seems to exist many options and since I'm starting with plotting geo data with R, I thought I could do with some experienced advice. What I need isn't too elaborate by any means, so I could probably do with a "lighter" package(s).
However, I am looking for performance and for functions that can safely be used programatically, not only interactively.
Here is a gist of the workflow:

However, I am looking for performance and for functions that can safely be used programatically, not only interactively.
Here is a gist of the workflow:
- Import .mif files - With line features and attributes;
- Plot lines colored based on attribute values - discreet and continuous variables;
- Overlay line data on Google maps - So need control over projection;
- Carry out spatial joins.
Any insights are greatly appreciated.Many thanks
