I am looking to create a map where the user can navigate around the map and select certain areas on the map (likely stored as KML files) in order to display information about that area.
I have been reading up on the different options for doing this, and I am overwhelmed by the choices.
So far, I am looking at using OpenLayers, Google Maps API, and a PostGIS/PostgreSQL database. Options such as GeoServer, OpenGeo Suite, and Mapbox Studio seem aimed at simplifying things, but I am unsure where they fit in in the scheme of things.
If anyone could point me in the right direction as far as what pieces of software I will need to (or should) use, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
