While printing out the raw pixel values of a GEOTIFF land cover tile I found 90 % of pixels have normal values i.e. those that the documentation describes (8 bit integers describing a land cover type). However several raw pixel values have been found to be zero. I presume this means that they are unclassified. What does it mean for a pixel to be unclassified ? Does this mean while doing a classification if I allocate a certain number of pixels for a given land cover type and hence whatever pixel that occurs outside of that range is therefore unclassified ? Is there any other explanation ?What does one do with unclassified pixels ? Reclassify them or leave them as is ?
