Unable to draw shape after merge after shape file merge

I have merged a bunch of shape files in ArcCatalog and get the "the selected file failed to draw...." error. Every thing has merged alright in the db.

Im new to GIS and could use some help.

NOTE: each of the shape files that were imported to ArcCatalogue are an aggregate of the following file extensions:•.dbf•.prj•.shp•.shp (xml)•.shx
