Sidra works closely with Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and Hamad Medical Corporation across *all three activities to raise the standard of health and health care throughout the State of QatarThe Research Department will house several hundred researchers working on many aspects of feto-maternal health. It will cover basic, translational, clinical trials and informatics research. The Department comprises two research floors totaling 10,000M2 and 9 smaller "satellite laboratories" throughout the hospital. The department will house basic laboratories as well as state of the art core facilities, e.g. genomics, medicinal chemistry and imaging. The Research Department will include a GMP Cell and Gene Therapy manufacturing facility and principal investigators who will conduct IRB approved clinical trials some of which will involve the administration of cell and gene therapies.
The Technologist III performs routine and complex scientific laboratory technical work, evaluating, selecting and applying laboratory procedures and techniques to assignments with clear, specific objectives. Assignments require investigation of a number of variables and complex features.* Working with limited supervision, the role is required to exercise judgment in making technical decisions related to delegated tasks.
Key Responsibilties:
* Working under minimal supervision, performs routine and specialized lab procedures, and associated responsibilities, as dictated by the workload in the rostered area.
* Solves complex problems and performs a variety of technical assignments within broader projects
* May modify practices and techniques in varied situations to perform duties, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results
* Contributes in research *trials in the laboratory that include taking measurements and recording observations, collecting, compiling and processing data
* Assists in procurement of additional/new funding through general support to technical proposal preparation and/or presentations
* Oversees the work of junior technical staff to ensure that correct procedures are followed
* Provides direction to assure completion of non-routine technical tasks and projects
* Recommends lab SOPs and performs quality control checks
* Assists in planning short- and long-term goals of the lab with the Supervisor - Laboratory and performs the research to reach established goals
* Stays current with literature in ongoing and proposed research projects
* Assesses lab inventory and orders supplies when needed
* Monitors laboratory expenses to ensure adherences to Laboratory budget
* Provides training to new laboratory members, research fellows and graduate students
* May write manuscripts and present novel research and techniques to research group
* Adheres to Sidra's standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies
In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.
