spatial average of mean annual precipitation

I don't know how to calculate the spatial average using Arcmap 10.3.I have to determine the spatial average of mean annual precipitation for each state and report this in inches ranked from lowest to highest. It Notes that area averaging is most meaningfully done in an equal area projection and I should use the Continental US in the USA_Contiguous_Albers_Equal_Area_Conic_USGS_version projection in my calculations for the 48 contiguous states.
