Senior Database Administrator
Masdar Institute of Science and Technology
A senior database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of Masdar Institute databases. Additional role requirements include planning, development and troubleshooting the database and related web application systems.
•Planning and managing the database, related web servers and data warehouse systems to meet the MI requirements.
•Managing and analysing database performance, high availability and capacity of systems.
•Managing operations and configuration for backend database and related web servers, including database performance optimization, upgrading, applying patches, securing, tuning, audit tracking and reporting.
•Mapping out the conceptual design for a planned database in outline. Refining the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model. Further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements
•Controlling access permissions and privileges
•Managing the transition between development/test and production operations and planning rollout activities.
•Assist in integration with directory services and access controls.
•Assist in the development of policies and procedures and ensure their implementation and enforcement.
•Implements data backup, business continuity and disaster recovery plans for the managed systems. Oversee and Support the backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover.
•Working closely with IT project managers, data architect, web and software developers.
•Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
المهارات
•Extensive knowledge and use of RDBMS and Web application servers.
•Strong work experience on the application support architecture & designing which includes various Application Servers, Web Servers and Middleware product suites mainly IIS, Apache, LDAP/AD.
•Have extensive experience in Build, Setup database environment with wide experience on installing and configuring the database systems in 3 Tier Architecture on multiple landscapes like Development, Test, Quality and Production Environment.
•Recommend and Ensure standardization of systems implementation, support techniques, adherence to formal processes, change control, best practices, and total quality practices in all activities.
•Practical experience in managing operations and configuration for backend database and related web application systems, including application performance optimization, securing, tuning, audit tracking and reporting.Experience with data backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover technologies.

The Masdar Institute is a private, not-for-profit, independent, research-driven institute developed with the support and cooperation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It welcomes and encourages applications from qualified local and international students and provides fellowships to talented students who meet its high admission standards. Its faculty is of the highest quality and the intent is to have the structure of its top administration similar to MIT's.
This new Institute will establish linkages with the government and industry, both within the region and internationally, in order to move new knowledge to use in the form of innovative technologies and in the education of a wider audience
