QGIS / GRASS r.walk region settings

I'm attempting to use the r.walk command through QGIS 2.10 (Pisa), and am fairly unfamiliar with GRASS tools.

It appears other people have had the same issue:Raster map in different zone () than region ()

How to get the direction raster from r.walk or r.cost

However, while the answers to these questions may have given the askers enough information to work out what they needed to do, they aren't explicit enough to help me. This question may end up being merged with one of those, which is fine; I would have replied to one of the answers in those questions if I had sufficient credit.

To clarify my specific issue:I began by creating a new Mapset, setting the Location projection to WGS84 UTM 30N (EPSG 32630), which is the CRS for my existing rasters.I set the Default Grass Region to 'United Kingdom', into the boundaries of which my rasters fit completely.I then imported my elevation and cost surface rasters into GRASS, using the r.in.gdal tool.

(One of the answers in the linked questions above was that the Location/Mapset should be created with an assigned projection before handling any raster data; as far as I can tell, I have done this)

However, when running r.walk, I receive an error report that:

Raster map is in different zone (30) than current region (0)Unable to open raster map

How exactly can I set the 'current region' to be zone 30?

Thank you for any assistance on this.
