I am trying to load a 2GB Geotiff (it's source coordinate system is WGS84) into the georeferencer for QGIS 2.6+. However, once I load the image, I see a blank raster canvas for nearly 10 minutes before the image loads and any time I zoom/pan the image, I have to wait again. The machine has 32 GB of ram and 8 processors, so I'm not limited in terms of processing power. I know that you can have the raster layer ran through the pyramiding script to improve performance, but just clicking the raster settings while the Geotiff is loaded (in the georeferencer) takes another 10 minutes + however long the pyramiding takes for however many layers I need. Am I missing something here?
