openlayers getGetFeatureInfoUrl

I am trying to select features from a WMS layer by using getGetFeatureInfoUrl. I got this working using a single click. I'd like to use it with a drag box. So my question is how to pass drag box extents to getGetFeatureInfoUrl function which takes a point coordinate and resolution to figure bbox argument?
