Openlayers 2: calculate polygon/area size

If i have 2 polygon areas which overlapI.e. New york, and central park

I want to store the approx size of each, so i can format my logic to pick the smallest zone i.e. Arrived at Central park (not arrived at New York)

I need to get this information after i've drawn this in openlayersIs this data available? can someone point me in the right location please
