I'm working on some ecological models and one of the datasets I'd love to utilize is that of ECOCLIMAP, its files consist of a hdr metadata file and a dir ASCII file, which I believe is built for the program SURFEX. I don't quite understand it but apparently the dir file is a multi-band ASCII file, but I haven't been able to open it in any GIS program I have, I was wondering if someone could help me out, or perhaps point me to an open-source program I can use to get it in a format accessible by ArcMap?
Or perhaps, maybe to cut out the middle-man if anyone happens to know where I can get access to baseline LAI data I can use (Mean of decadal Annual LAI Max data or something similar).
