So i am migrating from arcgis server backend to open source technologies.
I have about 100 map services (~300 GB data) each with 100+ layers. I have a web application where the user has to have a layer visibility control --> they need the freedom to toggle different layers.
How would i go about choosing the best technology(ies) that could be faster and better than arcgis server?
I know there are GeoServer, MapServer, and dynamic tile rendering softwares like TileStache, windshaft, and there are tile caching softwares --> mapnik tilemill, mapsurfer.net, so forth.
How do i use/combine these technologies to service 300 gb of data? and display 100 services each with 100+ layers?
