MapInfo 12.5: Remove Thematic Map

Seriously - how can this be impossible to figure out?

I added a 'thematic' layer using a THM file (provided by a government agency), and it turns out that the THM file contained .gov levels of wrongness. Specifically, the outline colour was wrong for all 40 of the styles, and the colour ramp skipped a category and thus was misaligned relative to intentions.

Rather than change each.style.by.hand, I decide I wanted to simply do away with the thematic layer.

So off I went through MapInfo 12.5.4's interface, looking for a mechanism to get rid of the thematic layer.

An hour later I find myself here.

Does anybody know of a way to get rid of a theme once it's in a map?

It seems that the only way to do it to delete the map and start again. Seems excessive if you've done a bunch of stuff prior to adding the theme.

I don't just want to switch off visibility for the theme: I want it outta there.

I can 'fix' the error in the THM by changing the metadata in the TAB file, but I backwards-compatibility for clients who use Mapinfo 8 and 10 (those appear to ignore the metadata).

In QGIS, removing a 'theme' is 3 clicks: double click on the layer, and click 'delete all' in the 'Style' tab. Added bonus: saved (QML) themes are human-readable and human-editable (the sort of useful outcome that happens when locking your clients into your suite is not part of your business model).
