Presently my GIS research is in historical geography. I'm making some of my own shapefiles from historical documentary/primary sources but I would like to know what other historical shapefiles are available for my study area (Ontario) that have already been created. I'm interested in seeing just about anything (but already have historical census data).
For example, the U.S. has shapefiles that show discontinued railroad routes. Being able to visualize routes of past transportion would be such a valuable resource that I cannot believe I haven't found this shapefile for Canada yet.
