I'm looking at the ArcGIS .NET SDK as a means to resolve minor limitations in ArcPy for tasks where the functionality in ArcPy does not yet meet the need. Is it possible, or would it be feasible to use an Iron Python environment to interact with this library? Or would it be better overall to learn the native language of the API? Additionally, do any immediate limitations come to mind?
My desire to explore this API rests with a familiarity in Python, and a few experiences where ArcPy had not yet exposed the functionality I needed. The scope for my use of the API is meant only to resolve minor ArcPy limitations at this time.
Any information, tutorials, or anecdotal experience on leveraging an Iron Python interpreter to use ArcGIS .NET SDK functionality is appreciated.
This question has a twin brother concerning Jython and the Java SDK, hopefully these two are not redundant.
Thanks so much.
