Job Description and Requirements
Location:
Jeddah – Saudi Arabia
Qualifications
- Degree in Surveying or Geomatic Engineering or equivalent. A.S. or B.S. in Surveying and Mapping, Natural Resources or similar curriculum preferred
- 1-5 years of experience within the dredging industry preferred
- Minimum of 4 years proven practical experience as a full charge hydrographic party chief experienced with hydrographic survey systems, equipment and applications.
- Proven record of completing professional training in the principles and operation of MBES.
- One (1) year land surveying experience is a plus.
- Successfully completed a recognized hydrographic course with specific emphasis on Nautical Charting.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Experience utilizing bathymetric survey tools including single-beam and multi-beam echosounders
- Experience using bathymetric process software (Example: Hypack/Hysweep/DredgePack software, IVS 3D Fledermaus Pro, ESRI Arc GIS products, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office products)
- Experience using conventional survey tools including auto-levels, total station etc.
- Perform the work professionally, honestly, with integrity and a commitment to excellence.
Functions:
- Conduct project studies and estimates and prepare project bid documents related to hydrographic surveys.
- Perform field hydrographic surveys collecting bathymetric and other data.
- Plan, supervise, and direct all off-shore operations.
- Direct the transportation, setup, operation, and the maintenance of hydrographic equipment.
- Prepare project progress reports, and conduct project briefings.
- Plan and analyze the collection of hydrographic data.
- Supervise the hydrographic data processing into the final products required.
- Ensures the integrity and quality of hydrographic data.
- Supervises the entire hydrographic survey work, including administrative and logistics aspects, in cooperation with the Survey Supervisor and Project manager.
- Ensures that all survey equipment are calibrated and tested, sufficient spares, manuals and consumables held on-board and that the survey team is familiar with the equipment and prepared for the for the survey.
- Process the collected field data, compute quantities, create charts and report back to field crews.
- Verifies that the vessel is adequately provisioned and that logistics are organized so that the survey is conducted in the most efficient manner.
