This question already has an answer here:
I am brand new to GIS, as well as QGIS (so I apologise if my questions appear asinine). Having said that, I have a couple of decades experience as a software architect and programmer (numerous languages).
I have downloaded (and uploaded into QGiS), country data from Natural Earth. I now want to "cut out" the outline for a specific country, and save the boundary data into a sinle shape file - for later analysis.
I have searched online, but suprisingly, cannot find anything that shows how to do this.
Can someone please explain how I may "cut out"* a country from the rendered global view, and save the country boundary into a separate shape file?
As an aside Is there a better (industry) phrase that I can use instead of "cut out" - which seems amateurish?
