My aim is to compare the potential and real cyclability of my city. I have an off-road and on-road cycle path layer and a road network leyer which have length (m)and slope attributes.
I wish to produce a potential least cost path layer from all the different mesh block/census tracts to one destination. Calculate the number of paths overlaying each segment on the way to the destination to see which are the most popular segments/routes.
Following this, a 'real' least cost path layer with barriers, impedance and costs will be included. Would i add a field that takes into account the slope/distance/speed to have as a cost later on and be time or energy used?
OR How would I include all the costs and also give hierarchies? Was wanting to give off-road cycle paths the value 1, on-road cycle paths the value 2 and the rest the value 3. As well as taking slope, speed, time and distance into account and produce the least cost path. Is this all done before building the network data set? Such as adding a hierarchy field attribute? Or is that part of the network analyst functions?
Calculate the number of paths overlaying each segment on the way to the destination. And find the difference in traffic counts for each segment to suggest where future bicycle planning should have more attention. Thanks
