How to merge two rasters when are on the same place

I have two rasters in GRASS GIS.

  1. first : raster of DMR, raster picture of relief - created from highvalues
  2. second : raster of buildings where pixels of every buildinghave value of high of this building
I need to merge them together. I think its can be done by "r.mapcalc" with "max" function, but i dont know how to setup it. I tried a lot of combinations, but nothing worked.The idea is use on the result raster r.relief to simulate sun movement in one day.
