I work for a conservation charity just starting to use QGIS. I am starting to think about how to consolidate GIS shapefiles returning from different and separate project areas across the UK to be collated centrally. We are mapping the involvement and survey work carried out by our project officers on many thousands of polygons across the UK. Every project area will have the same set of files that they update as they progress.
Any of the attribute fields could change, and or the geometry, between periodic returns of data, or no changes, how do we recognise what has changed from the many thousands of records? I realise that this perhaps a big question and I need to do a whole lot of learning. But if you could point me in the right direction to get started?
