I am using ArcGIS, and I also tried in FME as well. I have a very large dataset of image data which are arranged in folders. There are thousands of images in each folder so it would be unfeasible to manually check and select all of the appropriate files. I want to find which images (from the folder containing all rasters) occur within a study area (shapefile; including partial overlap) and then clip these to the study area.
I tried to just include the entire folder as entries into an 'Extract by Mask' tool in Arc model builder, but this gave me an error. I also tried a convoluted method which created a footprint of the raster, determined if the footprint overlapped the study area, if overlapped then referenced back to the raster and then selected it to be clipped. It worked for a time, but as with other things in Arc it intermittently crashed for unknown reasons and has pretty much stopped working all together.
Does anyone have a tool or know of a way to get around this problem?
