More specifically my question would be if there is a way to create a grid over the digital elevation model in GIS and extract points, or elevational data, from the intersecting point of the grid?
I know the spatial analysis tool allows you to extract elevational data from points on a shape file, this helps though i am not looking for the elevation of certain locations.
I am trying to create a gridded elevation surface in another program, AutoCad Civil 3D, I can do this if i have the list of coordinate and elevation points in a shape file to export and manipulate.
Any information on this would help, I keep running into a wall with this task and im not experienced in GIS so I'm learning as i go.
