How to create multiple polyline transects with a certain orientation?

I am attempting to create multiple polyline transects and use them as cross-section profiles to analyze snow drifts on a landscape.

Is there a method of creating multiple transects in such a way that they all have the same orientation and length. For example, I would like each transect to be parallel to the direction of the prevailing wind which is 280 degrees.

The "Azimuth and Distance" plugin for QGIS 2.8.1 enables me to create singular transects of a given azimuth and length - but is there a way to batch this process? An ideal solution would randomly distribute 'n' transects (each with the same azimuth and length) throughout the extent of a polygon feature.

Tools I have at my disposal include QGIS 2.8.1 and ArcMap 10.3 - I can perform some Python scripting as well. Does anyone have insight into this issue, or have some other relevant experience creating transects? Thanks!
