I am new to using GIS and trying to learn on the fly while on the job. I want to take a basemap and add a layer where I can draw on features. Specifically, I plant tree rows, and I need to map them out for planning purposes. Additionally, I want to go back and draw on all of the areas we have planted in the past, with each row being its own layer so that I can quickly go back and look up where we planted in which year. The basemap is not editable, so I really don't know what to do. I am sure this is a pretty easy thing to do but I can't figure it out.
