I need the functionality of the editor > merge command for use in a python script tool. I realize this function is not directly accessible through arcpy, but I am hoping someone can help with a work around? The Issue: I have a series of multipart polygons which do not touch or overlap, but have a common field value. I need all these features to exist as one feature for the random point generation to operate properly and consider all these regions equally.
I have attached a screen shot to help illustrate the issue. Note how I only need 5 random points placed in total, yet the generator attempts to place 5 in each. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
