Job Position at Northumbria University Job title GIS Research Assistant Closing date 01/05/2015 Job description The project team has created a GIS from ‘rating list’ (NNDR) data from the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and additional data on the incidence of vacant commercial property. A research assistant is required to help enhance, develop demonstrate the Geographic Information System (GIS) to further extend the anlaysis and application of the data. This may require the cleansing, formatting, matching and adaptation of new data sets into the correct format for GIS analysis and integration into the GIS. Person requirements Essential criteria – The ability to manage and interrogate large amounts of data in various formats, typically in MS Excel and Arc View GIS The ability to prepare data sets for GIS analysis Experience of utilising GIS to conduct spatial analysis Interest, confidence and creativity in adapting data, often in raw and contrasting formats into useful resources for interrogation and analysis Experience in working with various data base products and the confidence to spot opportunities for improvement and innovation Desirable criteria – Knowledge of non-domestic rating Understanding of commercial property market economics and valuation Experience of other data base and data analysis products such as SPSS, SQL and Access Experience of working with similar experimental data sets Read more source
