GeoTIFF Mosaic/Crop/Translate in QGIS?

I routinely have to mosaic multiple GeoTIFFs together, extract a rectangular area, and save that area as a JPG with a world file. Typically I've been using commercial software for that (Geographic Imager) but would like to switch that task over to QGIS.

I can eventually get the task completed using multiple tools, but the process takes much longer and involves creation of intermediate GeoTIFFs along the way. In Geographic Imager I simply load the images into Photoshop, crop, and SaveAs and I'm done.

So what's the easiest, quickest workflow to:

  1. Load multiple GeoTIFFs
  2. Mosaic them together
  3. Select an area to extract (preferably by drawing a box)
  4. Save selected area out to JPG with accompanying world file
