I have a DEM in a tif raster format. I would like to use GRASS or other GIS software to extract all of the lakes as vector polygons.
I tried GRASS r.lake but it seemed to require input about the lake's elevation, when all of these lakes are at different elevations.
Another method I was thinking would be possible is to extract from the hillshading? All the flat surfaces in the hillshading are equal to a value of 181. I only know how to display that value, is there anyway to vectorize it?
After further research, is a slope analysis the best method? If so, I'm having troubles getting this to work as well.
