I've been presented with traffic count and journey time data between 20 different ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) points along a given section of road. I've been tasked with attaching this data to a GIS road network so we can visibly see traffic volumes for journeys and time for journeys, plus also to aggregate this data into general traffic flow on the given section road and average time.
The data is in its raw format is in excel format with each identified journey showing it's entry point and exit point with the journey time it took.
Can anyone think of the most efficient way I can assign this ANPR data to the road network? My first thoughts are to break the network down into links between the entry and exit points and somehow joining the ANPR data to these sections to accumulate the volume and journey time data.
I have QGIS and ArcMap (hopefully v.shortly with Network Analyst extension)
