Chained rendering Geoserver

I've been all around the internet now trying to figure out chained rendering in GeoServer.

The goal for me is to get a result in the like of these two links:

So i understand that i am to use WPS for processiong. The data i have is a PostGIS table with points and data.

Can someone shed some light on this subject? The two links are super, but i have no idea how to get there.

I'm still trying to figure out if i do have to provide a GeoTiff or if it's alright with the points in the table. According to the links it seems to be alright with just point data.

So what i'm looking for is some pointers, like:

1. Do this with the points
2. After that you can do this to render a colored map
3. And so on..

Im using GeoServer 2.7.1, i haven't succeeded in installing the WPS extension yet (i couldn't reach the interface when i installed the extension), but that's another story (I'll figure it out.)The data table (samples) has a column called geom where the points are stored, and several different columns for data. We can use "pH" as an example.

Im really thankful for you're help. I've been on this subject for the last couple of days.
