Has anyone seen a problem like this, where ERROR 000210 occurs in ModelBuilder, seemingly at random, on one of two different tools (described below)?
I am running a ModelBuilder model that I have run successfully multiple times in the past. It uses "Iterate Feature" in a submodel to select groups of lines, runs Copy Features, runs Feature Vertices to Points, runs Extract Values to Points, runs Select, and then Collect Values. If the submodel is successful, it will produce and collect all the lowest-elevation points from each group of lines, and merge them (back in the main model).
My present model run should iterate over 1380 separate groups of lines. Yesterday, this model has crashed five separate times. The first time, at patch 180, on the Feature Vertices to Points (FVP) tool. The second and third times, at patch 372, on the FVP tool. The fourth time, at patch 439, on the Copy Features tool. (The fourth time, I had created a new, empty MXD and added only the two layers needed to run the model. Didn't help.) The fifth time, I shortened all the filenames to less than 14 characters, in case that made a difference. It didn't. It crashed, at patch 413, on the FVP tool again.
I am working in ArcGIS 10.2.2, in empty, newly-created, file GDBs. No file locks, no other ArcMap or ArcCatalog sessions open. It's a mystery.
Something else seems odd and unstable about this -- sometimes after the model crashes, if I try to right-click and open the attribute table or Properties dialog of the line feature class, ArcMap immediately closes, with neither a crash warning nor a dialogue box or anything.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?
