Job Description
Duties And Responsibilities
-Possess/develop understanding of OutsidePlant communications cabling/records.
-Possess working knowledge of OSP utility poleattached infrastructure and minimum separation requirements, downguy, and anchoring requirements.
-Preferred knowledge of Pole make ready cablerearrangement for adding new attachments (UCS will train if needed).
-Work closely with all departments to ensurethat the field notes convey the correct information with appropriatefield symbols, measurements, and other pertinent data.
-Perform field surveys with company providedequipment (both mechanical and electronic).
-Document existing outside plantinfrastructure aerial & underground on land based maps.
-Accurately record span measurements betweenpoles and height of current attachments at each individual pole.
-Identify existing address information (ifapplicable)
- Identify Primary electric, Transformerlocations, grounding, and guying.
-Prepare permit sketches.
- Perform Self-check Quality Control of ownwork for completeness, accuracy, meeting standards, key features (hublocations, buried plant detail, pole numbers, guy & anchorinformation, etc.), and overall quality appearance.
Essential JobFunctions
-Must be able to read, interpret and noteexisting drawings and maps to minimize the need for a second fieldsurvey.
-Demonstrate basic English languageproficiency in both oral and written communication
-Demonstrate basic mathematical skills.
- Operate computer using standard e-mailsoftware for daily data transmittals and entry through keyboard,viewing monitor, and mouse.
- Identify/locate assigned locations andposition necessary equipment to complete tasks.
-Must have a valid driver's license andreliable transportation for work sites
- Work with the project managers to understandthe scope of work, schedule, project instructions andresponsibilities.
-Must be versatile to work well independentlywith the ability to organize and prioritize all work to meet specificdeadlines with minimal supervision.

Required Knowledge And Skills
-Able to access, input and retrieveinformation from network computer station.
-Candidate should have understanding ofOutside Plant communications cabling/records
-Must be able to self-check own work to ensureaccuracy and completeness.
-Able to work closely with engineers and otherpersonnel to obtain information or ensure accurate field notes.
-Able to work with minimal supervision, be aself-starter, and be detail-oriented.
-Able to contribute in project reviews andimprove job efficiencies.
- Advanced knowledge of field survey practices,methods and techniques; basic construction prints interpretation; andgeneral installation principles.
-Demonstrate intermediate reasoning ability toapply common sense and understanding to carry out instructionsfurnished in oral, written, or diagram form.
Education And Experience
three years of related survey field work experience;or anyequivalent combination of experience and training that provides therequired knowledge, skills and abilities.
