We have added support to FME Cloud, to allow you to assign static IP addresses to your FME Cloud instance. Previously on FME Cloud, every time the instance was paused it was assigned a new IP address. This was problematic, as*IP addresses are a good way to securely integrate on-premises and cloud infrastructure and if they change it makes that difficult. For example—now*that FME Cloud instances have static IPs—you can open a port into your on-premises data centre, but only allow traffic from*the static IP you assign to the FME Cloud instance.

To assign a static IP to an FME Cloud instance:

  1. Login to the dashboard and ensure you have an instance that was launched after 1st January 2015, anything before that won’t work.
  2. Pause the instance, the instance must be in a paused state to initially assign it.
  3. Access the Static IP tab on the left and*Request new IP Address.*This generates an IP address for you and then lets you assign it to a paused instance.
Once you have done this, that instance will always have that IP address (unless you reassign it) even if you pause it. It is still advised to access the instance via the hostname when using the WebUI and Rest API, as the SSL certificate is tied to the hostname not the IP address. IP addresses are a finite resource, so we have limited each account to one static IP address. If you need more please contact support@safe.com.
