The Blender Artists forum is pretty much a no-holds-barred kind of place and where I first learned of the expression "fanboy" and in the particular context of its stifling effects on community and the development of the focus of that community; i.e., Blender 3-D and critical thinking.
Paul has created a marvelous place for the Global Mapper community here at Global Mapper Forum and a vehicle for the lightning-like responses delivered by Mike in calls for support of this program - Lord knows my compulsiveness for details has plagued him - yet he tolerates my persistence if only for the improvement of this wonderful creation. As we approach the 2-year anniversary of Global Mapper's acquisition by Blue Marble Geographics (since 11.1.2011) we now see posts like marky9074's very first (and probably his last) complaining "the cost of a dongle license is nearly two and a half times more expensive than a single seat license." and the one from rickdb complaining "I purchased Global Mapper v14 on Sept. 1 and they want me to pay to upgrade to v15 which came out about two weeks after my purchase."
Indeed, the prices for the addon features for a single seat (locked node); i.e., the LiDAR Module and the ability to do vertical transformations brings the costs of Global Mapper to $2,000 plus the annual subscription fee for GeoCalc. Toss in a dongle the ability to write extensions and there's another $2k...
