eCognition Oil Palm Application
eCognition Oil Palm Application is a new solution for oil palm plantation operators to transform UASdata into intelligence in a timely and affordable manner for better decision making. It is designed todetect single trees, analyze their size, health status and density. The complex and sophisticateddetection and analysis routines implemented in eCognition Oil Palm Application are wrapped intoan easy-to-use tool that is designed to guide the user through the semi-automated analysisworkflow.
With Trimble’s eCognition Oil Palm Application, oil palm plantation operators can generate information on every individual tree on their plantation, which is essential for understanding thecurrent in situ situation and derive appropriate actions to maximize the production yields. Thesoftware enables users to efficiently perform this task right from the office desk.
The analysis with eCognition Oil Palm Application is based on UAS data: orthomosaic images (RGB orCIR) together with elevation (DSM) and, if available, terrain (DTM) data. GIS information on landparcels, referred to as "blocks", can be used or inserted manually within the application to restrictthe analysis on areas of interest (AOIs). The results for export consist of GIS layers containingupdated land parcel information, reference information and palm tree maps with attributes.
