This tip to calculate a Moving Average for drillhole assays was shared by my colleague. Thanks JoseLuis! 

Mean average calculation in a drillhole assay database

  1. Select the assay database.
  2. Select Database Tools >  Filters > Rolling Statistics...
  3. Select the assay Channel to analyze and enter a name for the new moving average channel in Output statistics channel. Select Mean in Statistics to calculate.  Enter a value in Window width for select the number of analyses to calculate the mean value. To reduce the border effect select yes in Shrink window at ends.
  4. Visualize your moving average calculation in the Database Profile window or in a striplog.
